Ben grew up in Mabel, Minnesota before going on to get a degree from Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. He spent much of his youth listening to Twins games on KFIL. Ben moved on and wrote articles for his college sports website and also wrote Rochester Honkers game summaries while interning with Townsquare Media in Rochester. Ben likes most all the sports, though he knows the letdown that is associated with the Minnesota teams. One of his first CD's was Alan Jackson, and you can hear a mix of country music, from Merle Haggard to Taylor Swift when Ben is on air.

Who’s Going to the Ballgame?
Monday marks Opening Day for 2017 regular season Twins baseball. If you can't make it up to the ballgame, but have your radio with you, you can listen to the game here on KFIL. But for this Opening Day, I'm hoping to go up to the ballpark.
Looking on the official Twins website for tickets, I see standing room only tickets are the only ones available...
Re-Live This Basketball Moment
On Sunday, the last ticket to be punched to the Final Four was being battled for between two teams of different shades of blue: Kentucky and North Carolina. A missed free throw set it up for a game-tying shot. But there was one more chance in regulation for North Carolina...
Turkey Tradition Going Strong
Sunday marked another Turkey Dinner at Mabel-Canton. The annual event raises funds for the seniors to go on their senior class trip, which includes stops in historic locations such as Gettysburg and Washington, D.C. Looking at some information while waiting in line, I saw that the first one planned had its origins in Mabel in 1965, before Mabel and Canton schools had combined...
Brett Favre Still Has It
The other day, a video popped up on my Facebook news feed of Brett Favre. Favre, now retired (possibly for the last time), was enshrined in Canton, Ohio as a Hall of Famer this past August. He set records in his time for throwing touchdowns and interceptions...
Duke Furniture Does Not Help Bracket
Over this crazy weekend of college basketball, I went up to see my college friends. One of my old roommates is a big Duke fan and named the furniture I was to rest on after his favorite team.
Aaron named his couch "Couch K." Instead of Coach K, as Duke Blue Devils head coach Mike Krzyzewski is often called, "Couch K" did not do much work...
Overtime Thriller Goes to Goodhue
In the second of our KFIL doubleheader, the Goodhue Wildcats outlasted the Rushford-Peterson Trojans 40-37 in double overtime! Last week, the Goodhue girls punched their ticket to state, where they are still in action, and now the Wildcat boys have earned a trip to the Cities...
Lake City Tops Caledonia In Section Final
Thursday night, KFIL brought you more high school basketball action. In the first game we covered, the Section 1AA title went to the Lake City Tigers, as they defeated the Caledonia Warriors 55-51.
It took a few minutes to see our first tie 2-2, then Caledonia got a couple buckets and the trey from Owen King gave the Warriors a five-point lead at 7-2...
Ben Is Not Great At Basketball
With all the basketball being played in the high school and college ranks these days, I figured I'd give it a shot again. After a few trips down the floor, I figured my best shot at the highlight reel would be SportsCenter Not Top 10.
Last night, instead of going to bed early, I went to play some basketball with some of the guys at the gym in Mabel...
Caledonia Tops Lewiston-Altura
Tuesday night on KFIL, we brought you a 1AA Section Quarterfinal! Caledonia defeated Lewiston-Altura by a score of 83-56. The Warriors will play again on KFIL on Saturday, taking on Pine Island at 11:00 AM!
The early going was all Caledonia...
I Miss The Metrodome Wind
With Twins baseball and the World Baseball Classic on these days, I am very much looking forward to being outdoors in warm weather. But the old Twins ballpark was always interesting to leave.
Looking at the weather today, I saw that the listening area is in a Wind Advisory until 6:00 PM...
