Ben grew up in Mabel, Minnesota before going on to get a degree from Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. He spent much of his youth listening to Twins games on KFIL. Ben moved on and wrote articles for his college sports website and also wrote Rochester Honkers game summaries while interning with Townsquare Media in Rochester. Ben likes most all the sports, though he knows the letdown that is associated with the Minnesota teams. One of his first CD's was Alan Jackson, and you can hear a mix of country music, from Merle Haggard to Taylor Swift when Ben is on air.

Ben Finds End Of Ice Cream Trail
You know I work the mornings on KFIL, work at B&B Bowl, but I am also fitting in some time at Another Time Ice Cream again this summer season!
As you know, Lanesboro is the last town on the ice cream trail. Since 2012, my summers have been filled with ice cream and coffee, and I guess you could say that I myself have been filled with ice cream and coffee.

FC/L’s New Digs Broken In
Thursday afternoon, once I got off work in town, I headed over to catch as much of the baseball doubleheader as I could. Caledonia took game one, and Lanesboro/Fillmore Central got some runs late to take Game two of the doubleheader. When I went up to talk to Bill and Bryan, though, I got to see some history...
Where Are the Best Spring Sport Concession Stands?
As you know, we do a lot of sports around here. And when we're not calling the games, sometimes I just head down and enjoy one when I get off work. And what helps me enjoy the game? Some good food and drink at the concession stands.
I haven't had the time to go to all the areas, but when I've gone to a game hungry, here is what I found:

Lions Defend Home
The Spring Grove Lions took on the Mabel-Canton Cougars in a baseball game on Cool 104 on Friday night. Spring Grove defeated their rivals 11-7. It was a good time up in the box calling the game at the new setup.

Lanesboro Honors Veterans
Wednesday night, the Lanesboro Student Body hosted a fundraising dinner for the Honor Flight Network. The event included a meal to fundraise, information about the Honor Flight Program, and to just honor those who have served our country.
To begin the program, the Lanesboro high school choir sang the national anthem before there were two moments of reflection - one for those who are currently serv
That’s Impressive
Tuesday night, there was a lot of action in Major League Baseball, and some folks at KFIL took notice.
Ilene is a Blue Jays fan, so she had to show me a clip from last night's victory.
It took a hard play in right field, a strong throw, running, and gymnastics for Chris Coghlan to score the go-ahead run...
Dover-Eyota Dominant Friday
The Dover-Eyota Eagles softball team defeated the Rushford-Peterson Trojans 13-1 in five innings.
As soon as the visiting Eagles got there, their bats were alive. Jordan Meyers was the first to reach and reached third with some good baserunning...
